Go Now to the Baby in Bethlehem

Go Now to the Baby in Bethlehem

Christmas is a special time for all of us.  The story of the baby in the manger is one that lives throughout history.  This is my take on the night that Christ was born.  I've put this one to music.

Go Now to the Baby in Bethlehem

A long time ago in Bethlehem
On a clear cold winter’s night
A light shown down from heaven
On shepherds who beheld the sight
A voice sang of peace and joy
About a prophecy come true
Be not afraid! he said to them
For I have been sent to you

Tonight in the city of David,
A Savior for you has been born
His mother’s name is Mary
The handmaiden of the Lord
You will find Him lying in a manger
Cradled in the arms of love
For His Father is your Father
Whose home is far above

Go now to the baby in Bethlehem and praise His holy name
Go now to the baby in Bethlehem to find out why He came
Look to the sky to find your way and follow the brand new star
Go now to the baby in Bethlehem and spread His story near and far

The shepherds traveled along in the night
Following the star to Bethlehem
And there they found the baby
As the angel had sang to them
He was wrapped in swaddling clothing
Lying so peaceful in a manger stall
With cows and sheep, kings and peasants
On bended knee, one and all

What the angel sang still rings true today
But in our hearts He lovingly lies
The world is in need of the joy He brings
‘Peace on Earth’ each and everyone cries
So follow the star that shone long ago
On a cold, clear winters night
Travel the road the shepherd’s trod
And behold the heavenly sight

Go now to the baby in Bethlehem and praise His holy name
Go now to the baby in Bethlehem to find out why He came
Look to the sky to find your way and follow the brand new star
Go now to the baby in Bethlehem and spread His story near and fa
